Thales e-Security has a new CEO – Alan Kessler. Alan comes to Thales by way of the recent acquisition by Thales of Vormetric, and now leads the new Thales e-Security organization that includes both solution sets. Alan joined Vormetric in 2012 because he firmly believed the company had the potential to be a data security front runner, and has a proven track record of leading both large global organizations and start-ups in IT security software and services, enterprise software and storage systems. During his tenure, he accelerated Vormetric’s business momentum by expanding the company’s global footprint, targeting untapped market opportunities and achieving operational excellence, including growing the organization’s sales at 13x faster than the overall IT security market (as forecast by Gartner).
Prior to joining Vormetric, Alan served as VP of Worldwide Sales and Service for HP’s Enterprise Security Products where he was responsible for worldwide customer and partner success. Previously, as CEO of TippingPoint, he led the business through a stage of unprecedented growth, increasing market share at a rate of four times the industry average. He is also an independent outside member of Legato Capital Management’s board of directors.
Alan’s primary goal as head of Thales e-Security is quite simply to build the undisputed leader in data protection and digital trust management everywhere data resides or is used. His objective is to do so by enabling customers to build trust by reducing risk, demonstrating compliance, enhancing agility and pursuing strategic goals with greater confidence. Products will deliver the capabilities needed to meet this objective through a unified data security platform. His first charter is to demonstrate the advantage of Thales e-Security’s newly expanded solution set to customers and partners.
