– Two of Australia’s largest security services providers combine forces –
Media Release: 9 August, Sydney, Australia: SIS International Pty Ltd (SIS), the fastest growing security providers in the Asia Pacific region, has acquired a minority stake in Southern Cross Protection (SXP), Australia’s largest provider of security patrols.
SIS has been active in the Australian market since 2008, when it purchased MSS Security, previously known as Chubb Security Personnel. Since then, MSS has consolidated its position as Australia’s largest security company with in excess of 5,000 employees and a turnover of nearlyAUD$400 million.
SXP MD, Patrick Bourke says the agreement represents a significant milestone in the growth of Southern Cross Protection.
“The investment from SIS values SXP at four times the price realised when it was sold in February 2008, in spite of the tough economic climate since. This investment will provide a significant boost for SXP, underpinning the national expansion of the business and allowing security staff to respond more effectively to the needs of its 6,000 strong customer base on a local level, but with the strength of a national company.”
SXP has a long-term relationship with MSS, having formerly existed as a division of the organisation prior to being divested in 2008.
“Through our common investor, SXP and MSS will be able to enhance and streamline the delivery of integrated security solutions. Having built a strong reputation as a security service provider of choice for SMEs, community based clients and the public sector, the partnership with MSS provides SXP with exposure to larger organisations with national and global operations, in line with SXP’s next stage of strategic growth,” he continued.
“In light of the long standing relationship between SXP and MSS, we are delighted to re-establish ties between the two security firms, particularly in light of the significant financial performance improvement of SXP under its new management team,” he finished.
