Australian cyber security firm Secure Logic has announced a $4 million investment to launch its second Cyber Threat Intelligence Centre (after Sydney), in Bengaluru, the capital of India’s southern Karnataka state.
Secure Logic has been operating in Asia since 2015, with revenue in the region doubling year on year. It’s customer base includes Telecom Malaysia, Maybank, Paysys, GHL and AXS.
Secure Logic CEO Santosh Devaraj said demand for core security services in India is at an all-time high, as businesses are keenly looking at innovative tools to protect themselves from cyber-attacks and threats.
“Heavily influenced by the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, the Indian government is exploring legislation to protect personal data and impose limitations on the collection and processing of sensitive data. While the draft legislation may face some amendments, cyber security is front of mind for government and businesses, driving unprecedented growth across the sector.”
“To capitalise on this opportunity, Secure Logic will open a 24/7 Cyber Threat Intelligence Centre in Bangaluru by December 2019 and increase our local headcount from 10 to 40. This investment in local infrastructure, combined with our experience of supporting Australian government departments and leading organisations, will put us at the front of the queue for businesses seeking security solutions,” Mr Devaraj said.
Appointment of General Manager
Secure Logic has also appointed former Singtel-Optus Head of Cybersecurity Simon Ractliffe as its Group General Manager to lead its growth plans.
Mr Ractliffe, who prior to leading Singtel-Optus’ cybersecurity division served as the regional lead for Dell’s SecureWorks cybersecurity business, believes the time is ripe for Australian cybersecurity firms to reverse the flow of cybersecurity solutions from India.
“The Australian cyber security community is gaining momentum on the international stage, and the success of Secure Logic is a story that remains largely untold,” Mr Ractliffe said.
“Our broad services portfolio delivered to clients in Australia presents a significant growth opportunity and will continue to enjoy ongoing investment, but the more specialised opportunity of delivering innovative SaaS solutions in overseas markets is where we see we can really make an impact for the Australian cyber export market,” he continued.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Devaraj said: “Simon’s reputation for success and growth in leading international security services operations will allow me to focus more on the company innovation agenda and international expansion.”
“We are seeking partners both here and across the region to build out the service portfolio, and deliver solutions to the burgeoning Asian marketplace” he added.
In 2018, Secure Logic appointed Morgan Stanley to assess its strategic options and continues to assess its funding options as it considers further international expansion.
NSW Digital Driver’s Licence
Secure Logic is supporting the launch of New South Wales’ Digital Drivers licence scheme, which will launch in the back half of 2019.
Earlier this year, Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said the digital licences are more secure than their plastic counterparts thanks to blockchain technology platform ‘TrustGrid”, provided by Australian firm Secure Logic.
TrustGrid is an advanced blockchain solution that delivers a secure, decentralised and immutable ledger of transactions. It enables government agencies and vetted private organisations such as hospitals and financial institutions to create private consortiums of trust entities on the fly.
