PITCHLIVE : Global Security Challenge
In late October, PitchLive London hosted the global finals of Global Security Challenge and Cyber Security Challenge. Attracting hundreds of innovators from around the world to London, UK, the event aimed to promote the technologies of small businesses and award significant financial investment.
Organised by London-based competition vendor OmniCompete, PitchLive saw some of the most innovative security products and concepts developed by startups and SMEs. Innovations were pitched to a live audience, including expert judging panels, for the chance to win significant prize funds totalling more than USD $750,000. Now in its 6th year, the Global Security Challenge gathered 12 finalists from around the world top present security innovations. New Zealand-based TracMap was chosen a one of 6 SME finalists from amongst more than 200 qualifying security innovations from over 30 countries. The Best Security SME title was won by Spanish biometrics firm Agnitio.
Speaking on the win, Agnitio CEO Emilio Martinez said “We’re really honoured to win the Global Security Challenge. Through this process, we’ve made a lot of important connections and have also received a lot of good feedback. Winning the GSC will help us develop new products and move into new markets. Our win also validates voice biometrics as a key security technology, an important step for the industry.”
The Best Security Startup award was won by Swiss firm Arktis Radiation Detectors, with its technology for detecting ionizing radiation. Speaking on the win, COO Mario Vögeli said “We are honoured to get the opportunity to work together with TSWG and to receive this chance to accelerate the introduction of our transformational fastneutron detection technology to increase global security.” The Cyber Security Challenge awarded I Think Security the winning accolade for their encryption system that could be operated without any training or technology support and independent of the user’s location.

Australian Secure Content Management Vendor of the Year for 2011
