Asia Pacific Security Magazine reports from Singapore.
It has been forecast that mobile phone payments are poised to replace cash payouts with Smartphone slated to revolutionise the way businesses do marketing. According to CARTES SmartphoneE-Commerce, mobile marketing will become even more sophisticated as more and more consumers use their phones to buy goods and services. Singapore is now perceived as a new hotbed for this new payment technology and Singapore’s central bank estimates that some 85% of transactions in the nation are completed using ‘e-money’, meaning mobile phone purchases. The increasing use of mobile phones has now caused entrepreneurs to resort to loyalty programmes thus only making it increasingly likely that more of such devices will typify payment modes in the nation.
Michael Weatherseed, Director of Security Events, Comexposium in noting the widespread prevalence of mobile technology payment here in Singapore, said “CARTES Asia and E-Commerce are the events to source suppliers of cutting edge payment technology and to [build]a great research base to gather knowledge on future trends”.
Yet what was never fully articulated were the special security encryptions or if mobile phone users in a specific nation can use it in yet another state.
This year, Cartes Asia will be held at the Asia World Expo in Hong Kong, from the 27th-28thof March 2012. With a target of over 3,500 attendees, and a large proportion of key decision makers such as CEOs, GMs, and VPs, this conference promises to be a prime opportunity for critical thinking and networking among several industry experts, having attracted the likes of Gemalto, Infineon, Sony or Visa over the years.
