Continuing the close working relationship within the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Aviation Security Training Centre (ASTC) network, ASTC Doncaster, UK and ASTC Dubai, UAE have combined forces to deliver a unique experience between the two regions. ASTC Doncaster hosted a National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Programme Workshop delivered by ASTC Dubai in October.
ASTC Dubai delivered the workshop to 22 senior AvSec and Police Officers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman, as well as representatives from the Emirates Security Group. The workshop provided those attending with the knowledge and skills needed to develop effective aviation security quality control measures under the context of a National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Programme (NCASQCP). ASTC Dubai’s instructor team included their most senior members for this delivery: ASTC Dubai’s Director, Col. Dr. Mohammad Bin Dafoos Al Mansoori and Mr. Marwan Mohammad Singel. Excellent co-ordination between the centres was maintained by Capt. Jamal Ali Hassan and Miss Jules Lark.
Following completion of the workshop, those attending were offered a visit to an international airport to allow the learning achieved to be seen in a practical application. Redline’s Commercial Director, Jim Termini, and Operations Director Mark Rutherford, also delivered an additional presentation to the delegates in relation to Quality Assurance with the use of Overt and Covert testing practices, along with Computer Based assessment for x-ray screeners, demonstrating Redline’s unique ALERT2 threat image recognition system. A final meeting between the Directors of both ASTCs provided further mutual understanding regarding AvSec training and development, and both looked forward to future cooperation.
