ThreatARMOR eliminated 80% of security alerts to enhance IDS effectiveness and automate security operations
lxia has announced that HyperBox has deployed ThreatARMOR in their shared service network to enhance the performance and effectiveness of their intrusion detection systems (IDS), as well as to automate security operations.
HyperBox Co., Ltd., founded in Japan in 1996, offers hosting service to domestic users, as well as 24/7 telephone support. Challenged by increasing cyberattacks that generated thousands of alerts, security engineers at HyperBox had to manually check the logs daily to identify and address serious network threats or breaches which could impact the company’s ability to support its customers.
To address this growing concern, and enable security engineers to focus on potential business-critical threats, HyperBox deployed Ixia’s ThreatARMOR as a complement to their security infrastructure, which includes firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
ThreatARMOR enabled HyperBox to block traffic from known-bad IP addresses, hijacked IPs, and untrusted countries, reducing the number of security alerts from 1 million to 200,000 per day. By eliminating automated probes and scans, DDoS attacks from untrusted countries and hijacked IPs, and phishing and botnet connections, ThreatARMOR allowed HyperBox security engineers to activate enhanced detection features on their existing security tools and focus on the meaningful security alerts which indicate an active breach.
“ThreatARMOR’s easy-to-use management interface helped our security engineers fully understand our security posture and potential network vulnerabilities at any given time,” said Mr. Naoya Matsuura, the engineer in charge of HyperBox’s Technology Division. “We used to spend a great deal of time chasing every alert generated by our firewall and IDS, but now we can focus on planning how to better serve our customers thanks to ThreatARMOR.”
