The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has laid additional charges as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged bribery of foreign public officials.
A 64-year-old man, a 62-year-old man and a 68-year old man have received two additional charges for offences relating to foreign bribery and false accounting activity.
These three men were originally charged by the AFP in 2011 in relation to efforts to secure banknote contracts on behalf of Note Printing Australia.
A 57-year-old man has also been charged for foreign bribery activity alleged to have occurred in Nepal.
This brings the number of people charged with foreign bribery offences as part of this investigation to a total of nine.
All four men are scheduled to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 14 March 2013).
Foreign bribery charges contrary to the Criminal Code Act 1995 carry a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.
False Accounting charges contrary to the Victorian Crimes Act also carry a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.
The AFP will continue investigations in Australia and internationally with its law enforcement partners.
As investigations are ongoing, it is not appropriate to make any further comment at this stage.
