Thermal imaging cameras are finding their way into more and more security installations. No other technology than thermal imaging lets you see intruders in total darkness, in practically all weather conditions. No other technology offers you a longer range performance than thermal imaging.
Still some security professionals are hesitant to put the power of thermal imaging at work. Often this has to do with the price of a thermal imaging camera. It is indeed still a bit more expensive than a CCTV camera.

Choice of image quality
FC-Series S thermal imaging cameras are available in 320 × 240, and high-resolution 640 × 480 formats. To make sure that there is an FC-Series S camera for every security application FLIR Systems offers a wide variety of lenses. Longer lenses have a narrower field of view and allow you to spot intruders from farther away.

*All 320 x 240 pixels FC-Series S thermal imaging cameras are equipped with an uncooled microbolometer detector with 25µm pixel pitch except for the FC-309 S which is equipped with an uncooled microbolometer detector with a 17µm pitch.
Wide dynamic range
WDR delivers high contrast thermal images in the most diverse conditions, even when the sun is in the field of view. But also in cold and low contrast thermal scenes. Ideal for working together with video analytics that need properly contrasted images in order not to generate false alarms.
Easy installation
The FC-Series S is a hybrid camera. Equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE), communication and power are supplied with only one cable. The FC-Series S can be integrated in any existing TCP/IP network and controlled over a PC. No additional cables are required. The FC-Series S complies with the ONVIF 2.0 standard and can therefore easily be connected in a network to work together with other sensors.
Installation in legacy networks, power in / video out is also possible.
Designed for use in harsh environments
FLIR FC-Series S cameras are extremely rugged systems. Their vital core is well protected, up to IP66 and has a unique operating temperature range of -50ºC to +70ºC (continuous operation).
Multiple channels of streaming digital video are available in H.264, MPEG-4, or M-JPEG formats. Simultaneous digital and composite video output is possible.
FLIR Sensors Manager software included
Each FC-Series S camera comes with a single sensor copy of FLIR Sensors Manager. This intuitive software allows users to manage and control an FC-Series S camera in a TCP/IP network.
Extended warranty
FLIR FC-Series S thermal imaging cameras are covered by a 3 year warranty period on the entire camera and a 10 year warranty on the detector after product registration at www.flir.com
Thermal imaging is the use of cameras constructed with specialty sensors that “see” thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible to the human eye because its wavelength is too long to be detected. It’s the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat. Infrared allows us to see what our eyes cannot.
Thermal imaging cameras produce images of invisible infrared or “heat” radiation. Based on temperature differences between objects, thermal imaging produces a clear image. In contrast with other technologies, such as light amplification, thermal imaging needs no light whatsoever to produce an image on which the smallest of details can be seen. Thermal imaging provides full visibility irrespective of the prevailing light level and weather conditions.
It can see in total darkness, in the darkest of nights, through light fog, in the far distance, through smoke and is able to detect anyone hiding in the shadows.
