ASIS International successfully delivered ASIS Asia-Pacific 2013

ASIS International (ASIS), the world’s premier association for security professionals, held its 7th Asia-Pacific Security Forum & Exhibition on 3-5 December 2013, at the Conrad Macao Cotai Central in Macau, China.

The event gathered 260 senior security professionals from 32 countries which represents a 7.4% increase compared to the 2012 event.

The event was officially opened by Geoff Craighead CPP, President of ASIS.

The conference kicked off by Dr. Raymond H. Hamden, Clinical & Forensic Psychologist based in Dubai (UAE) who spoke about the New Dimension in Profiling Terrorists.

On the second day, Dr. Tim Summers, Senior Consulting Fellow, Asia Programme of Chatham House (Hong Kong)held a keynote presentation on policy direction and political risk in China under the new leadership.

The conference was closed by Prof. Dr. Narayanan Srinivasan, Director, ECU-Emirates Education and Research Centre (UAE) and Professor of Security and Risk, Edith Cowan University (Australia). Prof. Srinivasan presented on the topic “Professionalising Security: The lessons learned and the way forward.”

The conference featured 24 high-level, end-users focused, educational sessions provided by speakers that included Geoff Brown, Asia Group Investigations Manager of Microsoft (Thailand) on Investigating Workplace Violence in Asia;MP Sanumon, CPP, Manager- Global Protective Services – Asia Pacific Region of Cisco Systems (India) on Is Your Security Function Future Proof?;Torsten Wolf, Group Head of Crime and Fraud Prevention of Zurich Insurance Company (Switzerland) on A Framework For Managing Crime and Fraud;Paul Devassy, CPP, Corporate Security Manager – South Asia of Henkel Adhesives Technologies India (India) on Social Engineering – Posing Challenges to the Thinking Security Professional; and Eric Ives, Supervisory Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (USA) on Major Theft – A Gateway Crime With National and Economic Security Implications.

In addition, sessions designed especially for Chief Security Officers (CSOs) were organised by the CSO Roundtable, the ASIS forum for the most senior security professionals from the largest and most influential organizations in the world.

The event also featured an exhibition where 10 sponsors, and exhibitors presented their products and services to security professionals.
