Investment Company Chooses HiSoftware Security Sheriff SP to Classify, Restrict, Encrypt and Track Documents
Nashua, NH, USA and Gothenburg, Sweden – May 21, 2013 – HiSoftware, a leading provider of compliance and security solutions for SharePoint, today announced that Swedish-based Dunross & Co, an independent international investment company, has selected HiSoftware Security Sheriff™ SP to secure content in its SharePoint 2013 environment. Following a review of SharePoint security products in the market, HiSoftware was able to meet Dunross & Co’s requirements, where other vendors fell short, to classify, restrict access to and encrypt SharePoint content and documents. Additionally, Dunross & Co will also be able to prevent the distribution of confidential content and track the entire lifecycle of documents for added security and control.
Jan Juhlin, IT Manager at Dunross & Co said, “The nature of our business requires strict security of company and investor confidential content, and because we use SharePoint out-of-the-box, it exposes the business to risk. We looked at various products on the market, but other vendors only covered bits and pieces of our security requirements. HiSoftware was the only company that could address all of our requirements, giving us the necessary security functionality for now and in the future.”
HiSoftware Security Sheriff SP handles security and access at the item level using secure metadata and encryption. This enables companies, like Dunross & Co, to ensure that only authorized personnel can access individual documents and list items regardless of where those assets reside in SharePoint. Security Sheriff SP provides the ability to automatically classify, restrict access to, encrypt, track and prevent the publishing of content based upon the presence of sensitive or non-compliant information, offering content-aware data loss protection (DLP) capabilities.
“HiSoftware will give us better control over the entire SharePoint environment and document libraries. Using Security Sheriff, we will be able to avoid what we call ‘man-in-the-middle attacks’ where our users send confidential information to external parties without permission to do so. We will also use Security Sheriff to prevent end-users from printing or downloading documents to their desktop without appropriate permissions, and to encrypt content that is distributed from our employees to third parties,” said Juhlin.
“With HiSoftware we are not just talk; we are able to put our policies into action. It is not just about IT securing and policing the SharePoint environment, Security Sheriff will help end-users confidently do the right thing with documents and remove any distribution loopholes in the system.”
Kurt Mueffelmann, HiSoftware President and CEO, said, “Financial services organizations and investment companies similar to Dunross & Co are increasingly concerned with how to secure confidential content while still gaining the benefits of SharePoint collaboration. As with Dunross & Co, our solutions can help any organization that handles highly confidential and regulated information to not only comply with policies, but also secure content to prevent data breaches.”
As a Microsoft Gold Certified Application Development Partner and 2012 Windows IT Pro Editors’ Choice Gold Medal Winner for SharePoint product of the year, HiSoftware allows companies to easily manage compliance and security with an integrated suite of solutions that audit and secure sensitive content in SharePoint.
