McAfee Mobile Security Enhances Privacy Protection, Offers Flexibility with Monthly Subscription Option
SINGAPORE/SANTA CLARA, Calif.—April 24, 2013 –McAfee® Mobile Security received the highest score on the most recent mobile security test by independent testing lab AV-Test putting it at the top of the list of 26 security companies included in the report. In addition, McAfee is announcing that McAfee Mobile Security has been updated with new privacy controls and the option for a monthly subscription for Android smartphone and tablet users.
Mobile devices have become an increasingly attractive target for cybercriminals who are now going to great lengths to insert infected apps into trusted sources such as Google Play. According to the recently released Mobile Security: McAfee Consumer Trends Report, the average consumer has a one in six chance of downloading a risky app. The newly released AV-Test results demonstrate the commitment McAfee has toward providing consumers with the most comprehensive security and privacy solution on the market.
McAfee Mobile Security scored 100 percent, receiving a perfect score in each of the 13 areas tested. Some of the specific areas tested include:
- Android Malware Detection Rate: McAfee Mobile Security detected all samples and malware families in the test.
- Android Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) Detection Rate: All potentially unwanted programs were detected
- False Positives: Zero false positives were reported.
- Power Consumption: McAfee Mobile Security does not reduce the battery life of a device.
- CPU Consumption: McAfee Mobile Security does not slow down the device during normal usage.
The newly enhanced version of McAfee Mobile Security offers flexibility with a monthly subscription option and is designed to combat the privacy threats associated with risky apps.
