Integrators Australia, providers of software and network design, were assigned the task of increasing the safety and security of Melbourne’s public housing tenants, and visitors, by the Australian Government Department of Human Services. The global need for wireless M2M communications is rising in line with security sector growth. According to a report by Sarre and Prenzler titled, Private Security and Public Interest (April 2011), the demand for privately funded policing and security services grows daily, and as a result the security industry is growing at a faster rate than both the police force and the Australian population. This rapid security sector growth is a global phenomenon with long-term annual increases estimated to be around 8 per cent.
