Sydney, Australia–MediaOutreach –27th September 2012 —EC-Council Academy announced that a partnership has been formed with Meadowbrook TAFE to offer the world renowned Computer Hacking Forensic Investigation (CHFI) training programme. CHFI provides a methodological approach to computer forensics and evidence analysis that will help detect sources of hacking attacks.The programme will enable students to learn and experience forensic investigation techniques and tools to successfully carry out computer forensic investigations that can be used to apprehend and even prosecute cyber crimals. A little like the cyber world version of Crime Scene Investigators (CSI).
While we have infamous hackers staking claim on widely publicized hacking incidents, there is still a huge number of security breaches that go unreported and untraced. Worse, many go unprosecuted. In the nascent information security landscape, information security countermeasures might have come a long way, but compliance and regulatory measures have not.
“We’re convinced that by giving our students the latest practical knowledge in network security combined with industry certification, it gives them the best options for employment or further academic study,” says Dr David Halfpenny, Academic Coordinator of TAFE NSW — Northern Sydney Institute.
Dr Halfpenny also states that the CHFI modules fit perfectly into the security portion of their Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security) programme. The Northern Sydney Institute is a strong supporter of embedding industry certifications in its training programmes.
There’s been a steady increase in cybercrime activities in recent years. With increased reliance on information, internet and mobile technologies and gadgets, cyber criminals find it easier to access, abuse and manipulate information as they please.
“Cyber criminals have low risk and high reward careers, but things are changing now – the cyber world is becoming more regulated. We need regulators. And we need information security experts who able to trace the perpetrators,” said Wilson Wong, EC-Council Academy’s Managing Director.
