“The dramatic modernization of the Asian economies ranks alongside the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution as one of the most important developments in economic history.”

Lawrence H. Summers US economist and former president of Harvard University Source: Remark (1993)

“We had better get used to Chinese and Indian ideas coming to influence ours: on the environment, on financial services, on corporate governance and so on. We had better get used to great scientific research coming not from Europe or North America but from Asia. We had better get used to ideas about society … coming from other parts of the world. It will be thrilling but also frightening—and maybe for those of us in the comfortable West, just a little humbling.”

Welcome Readers to the all new Asia Pacific Security Magazine, a rebirth of the Australian Security Magazine and the conceptual Hong Kong Security Magazine. Globalisation and online technology has driven us here and this has been a most exciting development.

The two opening quotes sufficiently make my desired point. With a mindset based on the security risk environment, we will continue to examine global activity with interest on the influences and nuances of the ever significant, Asia Pacific region.

The lack of corporate governance in all sectors of government, business and industry continues to astound me. The security profession has far to go in influencing the business and corporate risk environment and one may argue, needs to get to the corporate board room fast. There is a critical and much needed role of the corporate security advisory sector in influencing corporate ethics and creating a prevention mindset. In recent news you would have seen corruption uncovered at senior levels of international banks, pharmaceutical companies, airlines, mining companies, car manufacturers and even the Catholic Church. All this should not escape contrast to a current Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) public inquiry into corruption within the Australian security industry. Again and again it is made clear that we must always be vigilant and develop the right levels of preparedness. Preparing sufficiently should overcome complacency to the ever present risk of the unexpected but anticipated event, be that in the form of a crisis, crime, fraud or misconduct.

Our ultimate goal, and I think we’re almost there, is to be the primary security profession online media group for the Asia Pacific. We are now positioned to provide a mature balance of editorial and professional commentary and importantly, with a sufficiently high enough bird’s eye view between what happens at the global and regional levels and how this impacts on subsequent, but more active and personal altitudes of nations, states and our local communities. In particular, our commercial and business communities.

We are developing partnerships throughout the region and includes India, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore, with partnered events being held in New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, China and the USA.

The Asia Pacific Security Magazine remains converged with our online My Security TV Channel. We have received great feedback from our documentary ’11YRS AFTER 911′ . You’ll find from watching this video that it validates the notions of globalisation and how a very sophisticated international security risk environment has emerged. These are important issues and impacts all levels of human security.

Stay tuned with us as we continue to explore, educate, entertain and most importantly, engage. I look forward to hearing from you and encourage to connect with us and retain My Security Media as your personal professional library, willing to listen and accessible anytime, anywhere.

Yours sincerely,

Chris Cubbage
