The International Healthcare Security and Safety Foundation Recognizes Dedication and Commitment to Healthcare Security.
The International Healthcare Security & Safety Foundation [IHSSF] held their Recognition Dinner in conjunction with the IAHSS 44th Annual General Membership Meeting and Seminar at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. During this program, the IHSSFoundation (IHSSF) recognized 16 individuals, two healthcare institutions and one Chapter for overall excellence and exceptional contributions in the fields of healthcare security, safety and risk management.Honorees were selected in various award categories including the Medal of Distinction.
The Medal of Distinction is accorded to an individual who, through individual action or initiative, has made a significant and lasting contribution to the healthcare security, safety and/or risk management professions. This year, the Medal of Distinction was awarded to Bruce Irvine, Director of BravoZulu Fire Safety and Security Pty Ltd and the Regional Chair of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety in Australia and New Zealand. Jim Stankevich, Manager of Healthcare Security at Software House, nominated Irvine.
Through his continued dedication to IAHSS, Irvine succeeded in imbedding IAHSS as a key stakeholder and contributor to the only healthcare security specific conference in Australia. He also helped officers of the Australia/New Zealand chapter in coordinating the first Chapter Dinner and Membership drive that was extremely successful, resulting in the membership expanding to thirteen and growing. Irvine also has been successful in getting IAHSS accepted as a member of the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC). His overarching goal is to have an IAHSS-based Healthcare Security Officer Training become a regulatory requirement throughout Australia, and subsequently bringing the focus to New Zealand as well.
At last year’s AGM, Irvine presented his plan to the Education Council, and since then has taken great strides to make this a standardized procedure.
Stankevich states, “Bruce has lead the efforts to add the ‘I’ in ‘International,’ a goal the IAHSS has been working towards for many years.” He adds, “Bruce has made a significant and lasting contribution to the healthcare security and safety profession.”
