No one can argue the world is void of significant and active change. Political and economic circumstances make the shooting down of a Turkish warplane by Syria, or the outcomes of Greek elections or the liquidity of Italian and German banks significant and influential events. It all seems to be pointing to an unknown but foreboding tipping point.
As a professional media group, our interest has recently shifted from national to regional activities. Our interest is now on the Asia Pacific and the security risk environment.
The Asia Pacific’s reliance on trade with Europe and the US provides many forthcoming economic challenges and much will be influenced by Japan, China and India. Ultimately, should dramatic economic or political change occur in Europe, it will naturally affect the Asia Pacific. Globalisation has resulted in the convergence and interdependence of change and conflict. Ominously, so too are the myriad of threats and our many vulnerabilities. And that’s the second area where our interest lays, the fundamental role security plays in our lives.
Looking past short term economic and geo-political challenges, and out to 2020 and 2050, the Asia Pacific is facing significant human security challenges. Food security, aging populations and climate change seemingly appear as the most prominent. To combat these looming threats, a great deal of development is still required in much of South East Asia and signs of it continuing are somewhat positive, at best.
As regional development continues, we will all also undergo the process of continued improvement in an ‘always learning’ mode. We welcome your continued readership and contribution.

This documentary, was filmed during my travels across the USA in April 2012 conducting interviews with experts in law enforcement, counter terrorism and security management. The aim was to examine the role security plays in society and how it has come to be professionalised, in particular in the post 911 era. Hope you enjoy it.
