Insights have been shared from recent International Data Corporation (IDC) research commissioned by Cisco, on the topic of security technology adoption among Australian SMBs.

According to research, while the biggest concern for SMBs around their IT solutions is security – voicing concerns regarding fraud and hacking – Aussies are much less willing to put their hand in their pocket compared to the rest of Asia Pacific.

The number of Australian SMBs looking to adopt new security technologies in 2017/18 is significantly lower than the rest of Asia Pacific, with only a quarter (27%) of SMBs looking to invest in security in 2017/2018 compared to almost 40% in Malaysia (37%) and Singapore (39.2%).

The research also examines business and IT priorities in the eyes of Asia Pacific SMBs. The research identified that the number one IT priority for SMBs is “building a more secure IT environment.”
