FireEye plans to provide training to Singapore cyber security professionals as part of a new cyber security academy. The company plans to offer courses in topics such as incident response and malware analysis. The academy is an initiative of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore and was announced today by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean in his remarks at Singapore International Cyber Week.
“FireEye has trained incident responders and malware analysts at some of the most prestigious government agencies and businesses around the world, and we are proud to build the capabilities of Singapore’s cyber security professionals who serve on the front lines and help protect Singapore and its critical information infrastructure from attackers. Around the world, the race is on to address the shortage of cyber security expertise, and Singapore’s efforts in this area will help cement its strategic leadership in cyber security in the region,” said FireEye Chief Executive Officer Mr Kevin Mandia.
Mr David Koh, Chief Executive, CSA, said: “The CSA Academy was mooted to better train our cyber defenders, and equip them with the right skills and expertise to defend our networks. Cyber attacks have become increasingly sophisticated, some of them can be highly complex and targeted. We welcome more industry partners to join us in this endeavour to raise the quality of cybersecurity professionals in Singapore.”
The incident response training is designed to build capabilities to effectively defend against cyber-attacks on computer systems and rapidly detect and respond to cyber threats that continue to increase in frequency and sophistication. The training in malware analysis will help cyber security professionals build their capabilities with the tools and methodologies used to perform malware analysis.
These training courses are expected to begin later this year.
