Sonus_LogoSonus Networks has announced the latest Sonus SBC Core portfolio software release with support for IP interface for network-to-network interconnection standards commonly used within Japan and the greater APAC region. This functionality helps Japanese and other APAC carriers meet strict Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) interconnection requirements at a lower cost, while providing a high-quality and secure experience to subscribers.

As service providers migrate from legacy infrastructure to next-generation Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based networks, the need to interconnect with partner networks for coverage and cost reasons becomes increasingly important. However, carriers must overcome unique performance, security and routing challenges when connecting high volumes of traffic. Sonus has partnered closely with key tier-1 customers to develop and verify that its solution is compliant with Japanese Network-to-Network Interfaces (NNI) standards.

Performance at Scale

The Sonus SBC 7000 is architected to scale up to 150,000 sessions in a single system with onboard DSPs for transcoding. This scalability simplifies and consolidates the DNS and IP peering configurations on NNI. Additionally, the Sonus SBC Core portfolio provides built-in Least Cost Routing, Local Number Portability and multimedia routing to simplify network management and reduce costs.

Robust Network Security

With advanced encryption and Denial of Service capabilities, the Sonus SBC Core portfolio provides security that scales as interconnection points grow. This functionality provides protection for the carriers’ core as well as partner networks from attacks.

Seamless Path to Virtualization

To future-proof interconnection investments, the Sonus SBC Software Edition (SBC SWe) uses the same management and software interface as the hardware-based Sonus SBC 5000 Series and Sonus SBC 7000. This provides carriers with the ability to choose hardware for interconnection today and seamlessly migrate to virtualization and the Cloud in the future without additional investments in training and equipment.

Quotes:
