Companies to deliver newly-interoperable technology for public and private sectors, intend to develop new solutions to increase cyber security in the cloud
Unisys Corporation has announced an expansion of its global alliance with Microsoft Corp. on cloud management and security services, including plans to develop new solutions to increase cyber security in the cloud.
Made in conjunction with the opening of the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit, the announcement heralds the first time Unisys – which announced in April the availability of Unisys Stealth(cloud) for Microsoft Azure – will publicly demonstrate its newly-interoperable, cloud security technology for clients and prospects in the public and private sectors.
The companies are teaming up to supply world-class technology to meet a growing demand around the world. The global cloud security market is expected to grow to US$8.71 billion in 2019, an estimated Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15.7 percent between 2014 to 2019, according to MarketsandMarkets.
“Leading companies across industries have critical needs for leading cyber security solutions to protect their eco-systems in the cloud,” said Peter Altabef, president and CEO of Unisys. “Taking this next step in our relationship provides us a platform to engage together with clients, prospects and thought leaders as we demonstrate the power of our joint technology solutions while also signaling our intent to go forward with new sets of solutions as well.”
“When customers make the move to the cloud they aim to do so with protections designed to give them flexibility and assurance. With this collaboration, Unisys will build solutions with Microsoft on Azure that help customers expand protection from their data centers to Azure, saving time and money,” said Ann Johnson, vice president of Microsoft’s Enterprise Cybersecurity Group (ECG).
Micro-segmentation adds security layer
Unisys announced the availability of Unisys Stealth(cloud) for Azure to seamlessly deliver award-winning Stealth micro-segmentation security from clients’ enterprises to Azure, a leading cloud platform used by 85 percent of Fortune 500 companies in 140 countries.
Expanding upon Microsoft’s security built into Azure, Stealth layers on additional security countermeasures, unifies security management for enterprises using the cloud and creates a highly efficient link for transferring workloads to Azure in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
More specifically, Stealth software provides additional protection to data and applications on the Azure cloud platform using encryption and identity-driven micro-segmentation techniques – a new approach to security that allows enterprises to quickly and easily divide physical networks into thousands of logical micro-segments. Even if adversaries infiltrate one micro-segment, they would not be able to move across to other parts of the enterprise environment.
“By providing additional security features, Stealth removes roadblocks for many organizations looking to take advantage of the cloud as a way to remain ahead in today’s competitive business environment,” said Tom Patterson, chief trust officer for Unisys. “Through our expanded alliance with Microsoft, more and more companies will be able to move entire workloads and parts of their businesses to operate securely in the Azure cloud.”
