Policing in Australia

P15K36_Policing_470x60We live in an era of rapid fiscal and technological change and this change is felt in all areas of police operation.

With budgets decreasing, police services are having to multiply the sum of their parts, rather than their staff numbers. On top of that increasingly complex national security threats demand equivalent sophistication in national security protection.

Determining and effectively prioritising future challenges is integral to operational success, and is a key focus of Informa’s National Policing Summit 2016.

Uniting Ministers, Commissioners and Specialist Operations with Police executives from across Australia, the conference will debate potential reforms and determine the future landscape for crime prevention at a national, state and local level.

There will also be an incisive analysis of previous high profile cases and a review of how advances in technology can be used to expand current capabilities and streamline processes in areas such as counter-terrorism, domestic violence, drugs and gun crime, to name but a few.

Strategy, leadership and modernisation will be explored in keynote speeches from Andrew Wood, COO, Australian Federal Police; The Hon Troy Grant MP, Deputy Premier, Minister for Justice & Police, NSW Government; and Deputy Commissioner Stephan Gollschewski, Specialist Operations, QLD Police Service.

Importantly, delegates will have an opportunity to meet Ministers in an intimate environment, have their say, and bring the most pressing issues to the table.
