2012, a Turning Point for BYOD, says Movius

ATLANTA – December 21, 2012 – This year has been a critical year for BYOD says Movius Interactive Corporation, a global leader in solution enablement for service providers. The company has addressed the challenges of the growing BYOD trend for enterprises, employees and operators with the launch of its myIdentities BYOD solution.

For years enterprises have struggled with the BYOD trend, trying to minimize mobile device and contract costs while securing enterprise assets and systems from Smartphone devices they have no control over. Meanwhile end-user adoption of BYOD solutions in the form of Mobile Device Management (MDM) have struggled for many reasons but primarily due to lack of perceived privacy from Big Brother, since the employee is unclear of how much access a corporation may have over their personal information and applications. Lastly, and most importantly, service providers launching BYOD solutions in the market have little incentive to resell BYOD services without any clear upside.

Movius’ myIdentities BYOD solution is the only solution in the market to address end-user privacy, enterprise cost reductions and security as well as a 2nd Voice Line to increase service provider revenues and offerings. By providing multiple workspaces on the same device along with multiple mobile voice and data accounts, Movius myIdentities BYOD provides end-user privacy, reduced mobile costs for the enterprise, IT security and increased service provider upside in the form of increased voice and data usage due to the ability to have multiple voice lines on the same device with only one SIM card.

This has been a key topic of discussion for Movius, which has spoken at a number of industry events including the Wireless Technology Forum, in May. Movius participated in a BYOD panel which included experts from AT&T, Airwatch and RIM.

Jose Romero, Director of Marketing and Technology at Movius, addressed the important issues of IT security, service provider revenues and end user privacy.

“The proliferation of Smartphones and other mobile devices has meant that BYOD became an issue that employers and service providers needed to urgently address,” said Romero. “As mobility became more attractive to end-users and increased work efficiency, tensions arose between IT departments which wanted to secure and preserve enterprise IT assets, and just as importantly, employees who wanted to use one device for both work and personal use whilst maintaining their privacy.

“With the Movius myIdentities product, operators can get both SaaS and traffic revenue, while providing IT managers with enhanced security and employees with service and application privacy,” Romero added.

A report published by Constellation Research earlier this year describes how Movius extended an existing solution (where one SIM card can have more than one number associated with it) by adapting a third-party solution in order to deliver security and separation of enterprise data+apps from personal data+apps.
